Butter Chakli Recipe

Butter chakli is popular by other names like benne murukku, benne chakli or venna chakli. Other than being buttery and salty, it doesn't have much flavor. It is the simpler version of regular spicy Chakli. Butter chakli is lighter and crunchier than any other chakli.

Butter Chakli Recipe

  1. Grind a small amount of roasted gram (chana dal).
  2. Sift rice flour, chickpea flour(besan) and roasted gram powder in a big bowl.
  3. Incorporate cumin seeds, softened butter, asafetida (hing), along with salt and sesame seeds (til) in the bowl.
  4. Knead everything into a soft dough. Be careful while adding water to it.
  5. Add star shape plate in the bottom cylinder of the chakli maker followed by chakli dough. Slide in the top cylinder and start applying pressure while rotating your hand in a spiral motion, don't forget to secure the ends.
  6. Once the oil is hot, start adding Chakli into it. Take it out when they have turned golden and look crispier.
  7. Do away with the excess oil by letting it be absorbed by the paper towel.
